Intra-House Sports Competition 2017

The four school houses have been pitting their wits against one another in a variety of sporting competition this year.

The competition kicked off with Football in the autumn term.  All teams performed valiantly with a feast of flicks, dribbles and goals to be enjoyed by all. The Year 3 and 4 competition was won by St Patrick and the year 5 and 6 competition by St Bernadette. The combined total from both competitions had St Bernadette as early front runner for the competition.

Next, the teams took part in Tag Rugby. On a glorious sunny day, determined running, last ditch tagging and match winning tries were on show. After intense competition, St Patrick left the competition as winners, meaning that they topped the overall points table alongside St Bernadette.

The third competition was gymnastics. Each house had performers competing across the 3 disciplines of Body Management, Vault and Body Control. The ‘STEP’ routines were judged on how well each phase of the routine were performed. After an afternoon of enchanting individual performances, St John house had accumulated the most points to take top spot. This meant a tie for first place along with St Patrick for the trophy.

Spring House competitions meant Netball for all. Year 3 and 4 competed first with the scores tied for first place with three teams winning two out of three matches. The following day it was the turn of years 5 and 6. It came down to the final match, with St Johns playing St Patrick; both equal on points with the victor of the match winning the tournament. In what was a truly nail biting match, St Patrick house overturned a 3:1 half time deficit to clinch a 4:3 victory. This not only won them the netball tournament, but give St Patrick a slender 20 point lead in the overall standings over St John with rounders and cricket still to come.
